Back in Stride Again!

You might think that the title is referencing my blogging stride. You would be partially correct.

With my home ‘puter acting a donkey and the settings on my other computer not allowing me to access certain sites on the ‘www’, I haven’t been able to view the one thing that is near and dear to my heart: my Google reader.

My Boo

Imagine my dismay when I went to log on a week or so ago and got an error message. I surely thought that my job had blocked the site. But not so, because I could go on other sites like YT and Gmail.

And then I was ‘tagged’ by a friend (more on that later), drafted the post and went to Blogger to actually post it - she would've been so proud of me - and…nada, nothing, zilch. I thought I would find a work around but I wasn’t in a rush to get it done.  Procrastination, thy name is Lisa.

Then my non-access to certain sites caused a problem with my work duties. Hold. The. Phone. That’s unacceptable. So I worked to have the problem fixed and, I’m back!

Now I don’t have to view my favorite blogs from my Reader app on my other Boo, the Evo. Oh, and I guess I can go ahead and queue up some of these drafted posts as well.

How have y’all been doing?

Stream of Consciousness Thursday

#SOCsunday

I know today is not Sunday but I’ve been wanting to do this for some time and today seemed like a good time as any; because God knows, the likelihood of me blogging on a Sunday is slim to none.

I can not believe that I drove all the way to work yesterday without proper shoes to wear in to work.  I had to stop by Target and purchase something.  I got a lovely pair of wedges on clearance and I love them.  I think it was God’s way of allowing me to buy another pair of shoes that I would have never bought.  Thanks God.  But seriously, I am on a no buy for the next few months.  I don’t need anything.  At all.  I am, however looking forward to purchasing a few newitems for the fall and winter moths.  I’m also quite disgusted by people at work.  I mean, who enters the bathroom talking on the phone and continues to have their conversation while they are actually using the batheroom?  That is just plain old nasty.  Eww!  I really really wish that my sons would get their liceneses right now.  I’m so tired of driving to and fro.  I think that yuesterday’s weather was perfect.  Yes, it was hot but it wasn’t humid.  I love the summer.  My youngest son wants us to become vegetarian in 2012.  I think I’m on board with this idea.  Actually, we’ll be pescatarian but it will be so much healthier for us all.  By the way, I’m joining a gym.  I can no longer deny the fact that I’ve gained a few pounds  And since I have no plans to modify my already pretty decent eating habits, I really need to increase my activity.  The gym is not included in my no buy for the next few months.  Anything for health is worth the money.  So off to the gym I go.  These last few months have been some of the happiest I’ve had in the longest time.  I’ve made new friends, mended some relationships and had tons of fun.

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday Thursday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes only.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.

A Break Up In Fragments

After being in a more than 4 year relationship,

I’m no longer in one.

It was pretty devastating, initially.

Who would do such a thing?

I tell you who: HIM.

Why though?

Only he and God know.

And I’m sure God is giving him the side-eye.

I don’t need an explanation

I’m good now.

Still can’t figure out how that crap happened.

Thank God I learned early on about the necessity of forgiviness.

Not for him; for me.

Every thing happens for a reason

I dodged a bullet

That isht still has me baffled though…

You reap what you sow

Always remember that

God.is.good!!!!

In other news…

I’m back on the dating scene.

Pray for me!

Hump Day Happenings

· Et tu Brute?

· Please note that if your Bluetooth headset is not working properly and won’t enable/pair with your cell phone, you should probably charge the device to see if that’s the problem.

· It took me 2 days to figure this out.

· If someone wants to do me bodily harm in my own house, just do it in the morning while I’m in the shower and everyone else is asleep. This morning the shower door straight slammed off the track and made a huge crashing noise, and not one person woke up to see what happened.

· Because of that lil’ incident, I have taken some ibuprofen and now have ice on my foot. Ouch!

· I have on a pair of gray chevron tights and they itch my legs something terrible. Even when I turned them inside out.

· How can it be that on a Federal holiday when traffic is supposed to be lighter, the Parkway was moving at a snails pace? Even the traffic reporter on the radio was in confusement.

· Blame it on the rain.

· I never knew that pawning library books was the new hustle. Read this. Straight madness.

· Smoked jalapeño almonds are DELICIOUS!

Have You Ever...

Talked to yourself in your head and then realized that you were actually talking out loud…and someone heard the conversation?

Been in an elevator by yourself and did a little dance…just because?

Been in a meeting and thought about something that was hilarious and bust out laughing?

Been at your desk with earplugs on listening to music and then suddenly realized that you were singing…loudly?

Gotten dressed for work only to realize once you got back home: you either had on only one earring or had on two different earrings?

Driven in a pair of fuzzy slippers to work (because the shoes you planned to wear was already in the car) only to realize that your child had taken them inside the house the night before without your knowledge?

Driven all the way to work to realize that you left your laptop at home…and you need to be in the office that day…and you live 30 minutes away from the office?

Rifled through your purse in search of your bank card only to realize it was where it was supposed to be…neatly tucked in its compartment in your wallet?

Bologna Biscuits for Breakfast!

I work in a small town. Many people have not heard of it when I mention it by name, but when I tell them it’s near a well known airport, they immediately know the area. This place is far from metro-chic and if it were not for the prominent government contractor buildings and the hotel district, I would describe it as…how can I put it…a hick town. And let me be clear; not “hick” as in quaint, Mayberry-esque.

On one side of town there’s a High’s Dairy. I didn’t know High’s still existed. Last time I saw one was about 16 years ago and it was clearly a poor attempt at replicating the original. Think “8-12” – you know the fake 7-11 that sells everything from bread & milk to clothing items and cheap jewelry. But this High’s ain’t no throwback. It comes equipped with the hand dipped ice cream counter.

On the other side there’s a Hardee’s. HARDEE’S? Didn’t Roy Rogers buy them out, here in the North, and didn’t Roy Roger’s go out of business? I couldn’t get a picture of it (thanks to the cheap camera phone), but this one had a sign that said, “New Breakfast Item: Bologna Biscuit - $1.49”. I don’t know what’s worse; the fact that bologna biscuits are on the menu or the fact that they are $1.49. You can get a whole pack of meat bologna for like $ 0.99. You can get a Mc.Double for $1.00…meaning TWO patties. That price is ridiculous. I swear I’m not making this up.

I thought this kind of stuff only existed in the South. My bad, Maryland is technically “the South”, isn’t it?

What a Random Week!

• I recently volunteered at a community day where we gave away information and food – not just canned goods, but groceries. It started raining at around 2:30pm. People would not go home. Do you think it was because they were trying to grab the last bit of free groceries that we were giving away? Nope. They were waiting in line – IN THE RAIN…to get the free cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones. And they were NOT children.

• Did you know that Chuck Norris will be 70 years old in 2010? He has a set of twins. They are 8 years old.

• My father is 73 years old. I am 35. 70 must be the new 40.

• I really don’t like it when I go to the ladies room at work and someone is using “my stall”. Ticks me off.

• I can not believe that Whoopie Goldberg tried to make a distinction between rape and “RAPE-RAPE” on The View this week when discussing the Polanski case. Don’t believe me? Take a look. I’ll wait…

Can you believe that?

13 year old + 40something year old + alcohol & drugs + “consensual” sex = RAPE each.and.every.single.time in my book.

Now every time I see her on that tmobile/google phone commercial, I’m going to suck my teeth and give her the stank-eye. Watching “Ghost” will never be the same.

• I think I have eaten more food this past week at work than I have in the entire month of September. Thank God I haven’t gained any weight.

• I REALLY need to start back exercising on a regular basis. The Fall/Winter months are the time when I tend to pick up weight. Last year before I knew it, I was almost 25 pounds heavier. That will NOT happen again this year.

• My sons are the coolest kids ever! Love them to itty-bitty pieces.

• I really REALLY love my job, my co-workers and my boss. After all those years of working with crazies, God saw fit to bless me with a great work family.

• My name is Lisa and I’m a reality show junkie.

• I just found out last night that my son watches the Real Housewives of Atlanta on purpose. That is so funny to me.

• They should make a reality show with Tim Gunn from Project Runway and Dwight from RHOA.

• Dr. Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy is a really good actress.

• I’m so glad that the weekend is here.
